Frequently Asked Questions
Make a Donation FAQs:
Yes. Data from each computer is completely cleared in an extensive process using complex software. Upon special request, we can remove the hard drive from your computer and give it back to you. We can also save your data on a USB and deliver it back to you as well.
01
Will my data be protected?
Currently, we can only perform small repairs such as replacing a hard drive or small interior components. Many times the cost and effort to repair a computer is more than the value of the computer itself. That is why we only accept computers in working condition.
02
Can you repair computers?
We need financial support in order to purchase mouses and keyboards for desktops for computers that need them. These finances are also used to purchase hard drives for computers that were donated without one.
03
How do you use financial donations?
We will gratefully accept as many computers as you are willing to give. The demand is extremely high in these trying times and more computers are requested now than ever before.
04
How many computers can I donate?
We accept capital investments through our Snowball donations page linked above. We also accept laptops and desktop computers in working condition - contact us for pickup arrangements.
05
How can I donate?
CompShare is legally registered as a mini-nonprofit which has the same legal bandwidth as a normal non-profit with a smaller size. As CompShare expands we will eventually obtain our 501(c)(3) status.
06
Is CompShare a registered non-profit?
Upon donation, you will receive a Merch donation receipt that you can fill out for the stated worth of your donation. Every donation is put toward helping someone to access the internet for online schooling which would otherwise be impossible.
07
Are there any incentives for donating?
We will pick up any donations within a 20-mile radius. With any further donations, we are happy to meet you halfway. We will accept computer shipments in the near future.
08
Do you have a pickup/drop-off location?
These computers are primarily given to kids who are faced with online learning for school and have no internet access. Several donations have also been given to adults who need internet access for their profession but cannot afford to purchase a computer.
09
Where are my donations going?

How do I specify what kind of computer I need?
CompShare is devoted to helping all students, regardless of age. Furthermore, if you are not a student but still in need of a device we are more than happy to help.
04
Do I have to be a student to receive a computer?
We are more than happy to provide more than one computer per household if need is demonstrated.
05
What if my household has already received a donation?
As soon as the form is completed we will notify you when we are able to deliver a computer via email.
06
When will I receive my computer?
We will drop off the computer at any agreed upon location. If an in-person drop off does not work for you, we will ship the package to your address.

I would like to have a computer to be able to use Moby Max and to be able to learn more every day about mathematics, it would also help me to know how to use google docs more so that I can do my work of better quality and more presentable, it would also help me a lot to download electronic books to share my daily reading. I would be very grateful if you could help me to have a computer, thanks for always supporting us in our dreams."

Julia, 6
Kindergartner
"I would like a laptop, so I can learn more using online websites. For example, I have a khan academy account. I am not able to use it as much as I would like to. My mom’s computer is old. She uses it for her school work. My mom is in school too. If I had a laptop, I would not have to ask my mom to use her computer, since she is busy working on her homework. I also like animals. I would like to learn more about them. I read books about them, but I would like to look online and watch really neat videos about animals. Maybe I will be a veterinarian when I grow up. Thank you for your time and consideration."

Richard, 17
Highschool Senior
"During my academic years, my high school has provided all students with personal laptops, but we have to return them at the end of the year. During the summers, I do not have access to a computer so it is hard for me to get work done and complete AP homework that I would have. This summer I would need a laptop in order to finish my college paperwork and stay in touch with the college I intend to go to. Laptops are expensive, but are an essential and necessary to attend and succeed in college. I would really appreciate if you could help me with this college essential."

Rubi, 32
Isabella's Mom
"My Name is Rubi, I am Isabella's mother. She is currently in the second year of primary school. In the Kindergarten year she was behind, we tried to put her the same as everyone else but it was impossible. Then, she went to first grade and it was more difficult. Now that she is in second grade it is very difficult. She would benefit to the point of learning to read fluently and write as well. As she learned to read, she became more interested in books and writing. A computer would help her academically in general and she would feel more likely to participate in the class."
